NESTLED on a quiet cul de sac, ON THE BANKS OF ENCHANTING HIDDEN HILLS POND, THIS METICULOUSLY PRESERVED SPACE TIME HOME FEATURES MANY ORIGINAL DETAILS GEORGE REYNOLDSON ENVISIONED WHEN HE BUILT IT IN 1974. THE original FUNKY HOUSE - THIS IS WATERFRONT LIVING AT ITS BEST.

A PASSION FOR GREEN BUILDING

An architect with a passion for green building, George Reynoldson and his Space Time Homes company designed many unique homes in the Seattle area, including several in the Highlands neighborhood. His company designed unique homes that used solar principles and salvaged materials. This home is rumored to be the only home by Reynoldson in its mostly-original state, with just a few tweaks to make it even more comfortable.

SALVAGED FUNK

The inside of this home boasts singular and unique details, many salvaged. Large, exposed beams, posts and wooden flooring were salvaged from warehouses. A stovepipe is used as kitchen track lighting, a ship’s ladder serves as a bookshelf, and iron grating is used as a screen between rooms. The house features a keystone from a Capitol Hill building.

ROCK & ROLL HISTORY

The current owners of The Original Funky House purchased the home in 1984 from founding member of the band Heart, Nancy Wilson. The builder named all of his houses, and this home was christened “The Original Funky House”. Neighbors began referring to it as “The Heart House” after that band moved in. You’ll note the heart above the front door.
