4 THINGS BUYERS SHOULD LOOK FOR WHEN INSPECTING A PROPERTY

Inspecting a property can be tricky business, especially after you think you may have found your dream home. There are several key things any buyer should look for when inspecting a property to ensure wise investing and a positive buying experience.

1. Flaws in the Structural Integrity

A small flaw may look like a quick fix at first, but don’t be fooled. Sagging ceilings, cracks in the walls, and even something as simple as chipping paint can prove to be a huge problem later on. If you love a property regardless of its flaws, it may be a good idea to look into getting a surveyor or a structural engineer to take a look at the integrity of the property and give you peace of mind.

2. The Age and Condition of the Roof

Roofs are expensive to replace and can have differing lifespans depending on installation techniques and materials used. Never invest in a property without doing an inspection of the roof and knowing when it needs to be replaced.

3. The Way Your Home is Facing

The way your home is facing will affect how much light you get during the day, how much heat will enter your home, and how the sunrise and sunset will affect the ambiance. This aspect is especially important if you are interested in later investing in solar panels or other forms of alternative energy to power your home.

4.Location and Livability

It may seem obvious, but make sure to do your research about the area. Is there public transport nearby? Are you in a more industrial area? Are you close enough to walk into town or do you have to drive? Consider visiting the property at different times of day so you have a better understanding the noise levels and traffic.

Never go through with a property purchase without feeling confident. A successful and strategic inspection is key to safely investing whether a property is old, new, or somewhere in between
